Miami Beach leaders past and present have endorsed Michael Góngora in his candidacy for election to State Senate District 38. The District runs roughly from Miami Beach to Aventura and from the ocean to I-95, including all of Miami Beach. Former Miami Beach Commissioners Ed Tobin and Deede Weithorn have joined Former Miami Beach Mayor Matti Bower and current Commissioners Michael Grieco and Kristen Rosen Gonzalez in endorsing his candidacy in the upcoming election on August 30th.
Góngora will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club on Tuesday, July 5th at 8:30am at Manolo South Beach located at 685 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach.
Stated Góngora, “As your senator for District 38, I hope to unite all of the coastal communities in the new District 38 in support of my candidacy. I am a proven leader ready to hit the ground running to implement solutions facing our community including traffic, flooding, education, better jobs and wages and drafting better and clearer condominium association laws.” Góngora is a community association attorney with the law firm of Becker & Poliakoff.
In endorsing his candidacy, Former Miami Beach Commissioner and Past Miami-Dade League of Cities President Deede Weithorn highlighted his experience as both a Miami Beach Commissioner and representative on the Miami-Dade League of Cities. “Michael understands government at all levels and will be effective in bringing home funds from Tallahassee to undertake needed traffic and flooding solutions throughout Miami-Dade County. Additionally, he will continue the fight for Israel in Tallahassee with the new Anti BDS law and divestiture laws. We need a leader that is sensitive to all issues impacting the diverse community in District 38 and Michael is our best choice,” said Weithorn.
Former Mayor Bower stated, “I trust Michael to do what is right for this community. His record of public service and long-time commitment to issues important to me, such as education and preservation, make him the most qualified candidate. I fully support Michael and ask that you do too.
