Unveiling of New LEED Gold Certified City Facility

Miami Beach Property Management Building Open for Business

The City of Miami Beach is celebrating the opening of its new Property Management facility located at 1833 Bay Road on Thursday, October 20 at 10 a.m.

With over 23,000 sq. ft., this facility houses administrative offices, workshops, storage and areas for small construction. The building achieved LEED Gold certification; making it the city’s first owned eco-friendly facility.

“We are very proud of this designation,” said Environment & Sustainability Director Elizabeth Wheaton. “It shows that the city is not only requiring this of others, but that we are ready, willing and able to walk-the-walk.”

Earlier this year, the Miami Beach City Commission unanimously passed an ordinance requiring all new construction projects to obtain green building certification or provide payment into a sustainability and resiliency fund in lieu of certification.
