Michael’s Events: Join us and be involved!

Michael Góngora

Dear Friends,

Thankfully, Hurricane Dorian has passed and Miami Beach was spared. Unfortunately, our neighbors in the Bahamas were hit very hard by Hurricane Dorian. Many of you have reached out to ask the best way you can help our neighbors in the Bahamas. First, please join us for Hurricane Dorian Victims’ Fundraiser for Alison Thompson’s Third Wave Volunteers that I am co-hosting on Friday, September 6, 2019 (Please see details below). Second, the City of Miami Beach will be accepting donations/supplies at all Miami Beach Fire Stations. Donations/supplies may consist of water, canned goods, can openers, mosquito spray, sunscreen, diapers, baby formula, first aid items, flashlights, and batteries (Please see details below). Please come to the event on September 6th and/or donate what you can.

Ahead of the September 11th Commission meeting, I wanted to share information with you about several other upcoming events that I am involved with over the next month which may be of interest to you. I will be co-hosting an evening reception with Chasten Buttigieg on September 9 at 6:30 pm in Coconut Grove supporting Mayor Pete for President. Ticket prices start at $100 and may be purchased by visiting: www.P4A.us/CB-Coconut-Grove

Next, I encourage you to attend two events that I am hosting that promote a healthy lifestyle. The first one is a presentation of healthy living through healthy food. I have partnered with the Hispanic American Diabetes Foundation for this event. The event is set for Wednesday, September 18 from 6 pm – 8 pm at the Sand Bar & Kitchen. The second event is my Power Walk & Talk. This month it will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 6 pm. Join us at Collins Avenue and 29th Street by the beach walk as we walk the area and discuss what is happening in our city. There is parking available at Parking Lot 55 located on 27th Street and Collins Ave. See invites below for both events.

For those of you who enjoy music and entertainment, I am happy to share information regarding comedienne extraordinaire and Miami Beach resident Pam Ann who brings her humor to the Flamingo Theatre at the Four Ambassadors on Friday, September 20th. The following weekend come join us at the Artscape Concert series on Sunday, September 29th from 4 pm – 7 pm. We will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with my friend Tito Puente Jr. performing. See details on both events below.

Finally, I am hosting a Farmshare food distribution for needy individuals and families on Wednesday, September 18 from 3-5 pm at the South Shore Community Center located on 833 6th Street. We are always in need of volunteers for the food distribution. See event details below. To volunteer please contact, Diana Fontani at (305) 673-7030 or preferably via email at dianafontani@miamibeachfl.gov

Join us for all these events and be informed as to what is happening in Miami Beach!
