Commissioner Michael Grieco withdrawal from race statement

I have been honored to serve the Miami Beach community since my election in 2013. It has been a time of significant progress and achievements for the City. I love Miami Beach and I view my service to the public as among my most important opportunities.

Because of the many sacrifices I have had to make for my family, my clients, my health and my law practice, I have decided this is the right time to join Commissioner Malakoff and Mayor Levine in retiring from the Miami Beach City Commission this year. I am no longer seeking another term. Effective today, I am withdrawing as a candidate for reelection. I encourage the two remaining candidates to run campaigns befitting the people they wish to serve.

To my many friends, supporters, and colleagues, I will reach out to as many of you as possible in the near future to thank you for working with me to help make Miami Beach the best community in South Florida.

I will remain committed to my service to the community. I have found that there are many ways to serve, and I will continue to do so. For now, I am looking forward to spending more quality time with my loving family and rededicating my focus on my law practice and health.

I will not be making any further public statements regarding this matter. I thank you for your support, and I ask you to respect my privacy as a soon-to-be private citizen.

Thank you.
